Students in quad

August 17, 2017 (Fremont, OH) – Terra State Community College is prepared for the start of fall classes.  Students will be in the classroom beginning Wednesday, August 23.  Upon arriving on campus, they will find a few changes and additions.

The biggest change students will see is the start of construction on The Landings at Terra Village, the $14.5 million student-housing complex set to open in the fall of 2018.  Equipment is on site just east of the State Route 53 entrance of the campus.

Students will be able to utilize several newly renovated collaboration areas.  These additions will house an open computer lab with smaller areas where students can work and study in groups.  These are free and open to all students on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Terra College Foundation was the recipient of a Financial Literacy Grant from the Ohio Department of Commerce.  With the grant, all students taking the Gen 1000 class on campus or on-line will receive a copy of Life After School Explained by the Cap and Compass Group.  The book is a guide to the first few years in the real world.

The Terra State library underwent a major change with the installation of the new software program Sierra.  The program will allow the library staff to better assist students in answering questions and locating resources needed for their classwork.  Sierra will also allow for better analysis or what materials are begin utilized most.  This will lead to more focused purchases.

Students can now download the free Terra State Community College app on their smartphone.  The app, designed by the Terra State Marketing Department, is another tool that will allow students, staff and faculty to access the information they use frequently.  The new app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

If not registered for the fall semester yet, interested individuals can get more information by visiting http://www.terra.edu/AdmissionsandFinancialAid.html, calling 419.559.2349 or writing admissions@terra.edu.
