Fremont, Ohio, December 22, 2017 – Terra State Community College has been awarded a Regionally Aligned Priorities in Delivering Skills (RAPIDS) grant from the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE).  RAPIDS grants are used to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for use in learning laboratories specific to regional workforce needs.  Terra State will be receiving $98,658. 

Terra State will use the funds to purchase FANUC CR-7iA/L R-30iB Education Training CERT Package for Material Handling.  The package includes a Collaborative Robot with Mate Controllers and software.  According to Steve Hillard, Terra StateExecutive Director Workforce Development and Corporate Partnerships, the equipment will provide a variety of learning experiences.  “Students taking either credit or non-credit classes will utilize the equipment.  It will be used to teach how to use robots safely, robotic programming and robotic maintenance along with robotic cell integration training.”

The new teaching equipment is scheduled to be delivered in the spring of 2018.
