Fremont, Ohio, November 15, 2018 - Zachary Brickner has been named the November Fremont Rotary Student of the Month.  Originally, from Grove City, Ohio, Zachary resides in Tiffin and is a Mechanical Engineering student at Terra State Community College.  He is also a United States Army veteran.

Zachary chose Terra State because he knew the College had a well-developed Mechanical Engineering program that no other institution in the area offered.  Terra State’s Veterans Services also made a difference.  “Terra State treats their student veterans the best compared to other colleges,” he says.

Zachary was nominated for the award by Terra State English Professor Steve Mohr who says, “Zachary is quiet and unassuming, yet very professional and possesses strong character, a friendly personality, sharp mind and strong work ethic, nominated Zachary for the award.  Mr. Brickner is just the sort of person worthy of the Rotary Club honor.”

Upon graduation, Zachary has his future planned out.  “I want to develop as a professional in mechanical design, focusing on the automotive industry in Northwest Ohio,” he says.  “I want to contribute to the part of the area economy that has contributed so much to my home.”  Zachary also has plans beyond just work.  “As soon as I complete my education and free up some time, since I work full time as well as go to school, I want to get back into the type of volunteer community work that I did while I was in the Army.”  Previously, he was an elementary school mentor through the Army and is currently involved as a volunteer with the Veteran’s Association and American Legion.

Zachary is married to his wife Abygale and enjoys fishing, hunting and skeet shooting in his free time.
