FREMONT – Terra State Community College will host a summer recital presented by the students of Gabel Music Studio on Tuesday, August 7 at 6 p.m. in the Recital Hall.
The evening will begin with a processional led by Theresa Reyes, followed by the National Anthem performed by "Sing-A-Majigs" from Lakota High School. This group includes piano students Gates McGough, Carlee Conrad, Caris Conrad and Kyleigh Harris.
Following a welcome by Mary Gabel, there will be a flag presentation to families of veterans during a performance of "America the Beautiful" with accompanist Cindy McGough.
The recital continues with a variety of musical selections from Gabel's students, including a special polyphonic duet rendition of "Pachelbel's Canon" played by Anna Brubaker and Ann Gutschalk.
An added feature to this year's recital is a performance by guest artist and jazz pianist Michael Shirtz. He will be accompanied by a former student of Gabel, bassist Phil Wammes, and former Terra student Lonnie Shuey on drums.
"It is a thrill to be able to open up Terra's new music facilities to young musicians and allow them to perform in a professional recital hall,” Shirtz said. "We look forward to an exciting evening of music and entertainment."
The recital is free and open to the public. Audience members are invited to stay after for refreshments and to tour Terra’s new Marsha S. Bordner Arts and Health Technologies Center.
