Business, Communication and Arts Majors

Accounting Degree Programs

Terra State Community College offers Associate degree programs with concentrations in:

  • Accounting –The Associate of Applied Business in accounting degree prepares students for entry-level career opportunities in the field. Students in this program can learn more about financial and managerial accounting, fraud examination, auditing and more.
  • Financial Services- This program offers advanced training for individuals who already work in the financial services field, and is also ideal for those wishing to pursue entry-level opportunities. In this program, students can learn more about risk management, personal selling and installment credit and commercial lending.

Agribusiness

  • Agribusiness Management- This degree program allows students to explore their interests in agriculture. Students will learn how to combine business management skills with their agricultural skills so they can pursue new opportunities in the field of agribusiness. Courses in this degree program include agronomy and soil science, crop and pest management and business ethics.

American Sign Language/Transfer Degree

The American Sign Language degree program was developed for those who want to develop sign language skills, and also establishes a foundation for those who want to pursue Bachelor-level studies in either Deaf Education or Sign Language interpretation.

Art

 Art History/Transfer Degree
The Associate of Arts in Art History degree program was designed to introduce students to art history and fine arts drawing. Students in this degree program can apply what they’ve learned towards a Bachelor-level program at a four-year university.

Business Transfer Degree Program

The Associate of Science in Business degree program was designed for students who wish to pursue advanced studies in business at a four-year college. Courses in this degree program include business law, technical writing for business and industry, marketing and more.

Digital Arts & Media Design Degree Programs

Terra’s Digital Arts & Media Design degree programs include:

  • 3-D Animation - This 3-D animation associate degree program incorporates design skills, technical training, as well as critical thinking skills in its curriculum. Students in this program can learn more about Web design, visual communication, 3-D computer animation and much more.
  • Design for Print- Students in this design and photography focused program can develop the ability to solve communication problems with a technical/creative approach. Traditional and computerized applications to various media are also studied in theory and practice.
  • Web Design - This Associate degree program in Web Design will prepare students to enter the world of e-commerce including the areas of web site design, programming support and management. Students will learn more about things like digital photography, flash for web design, 3-D computer animation and digital creation and editing.

English/Transfer Degree

This English degree program is ideal for students who want to pursue majors in English, writing, literature, journalism or other related fields at a four-year university.

Management  Degree Programs

Terra offers the following Management concentrations:

  • Agribusiness Management- This degree program allows students to explore their interests in agriculture. Students will learn how to combine business management skills with their agricultural skills so they can pursue new opportunities in the field of agribusiness. Courses in this degree program include agronomy and soil science, crop and pest management and business ethics.
  • Business Management- The Associate of Applied Business in Business Management degree provides a well-rounded background in various business principles with a focus on accounting, management, marketing, computer skills, as well as general math, communication and business social skills. Students in this business management degree program will learn more about financial accounting, human resources management and managerial accounting.
  • Hospitality Management- The hospitality field provides a great deal of jobs for Ottawa County. Those looking to break into the field can develop the knowledge and skills needed to pursue entry-level opportunities with the Associate of Applied Business in Hospitality management. Students in this program will learn more about risk management, food and beverage safety, organizational behavior and leadership development.
  • Industrial Supervision- This degree program gives students a well-rounded background in team processes, customer service, auditing, process improvement, organizational behavior, lean manufacturing and business ethics. Courses in this program include Risk Management, Business Ethics, Customer Service and Auditing and Effective Teams and Processes.

Marketing Degree Programs

Terra offers the following Marketing degree concentrations:

  • Marketing–The curriculum of this associate degree program covers retail and industrial sales, sales management, advertising, public relations, buying and marketing research. Students in this program will learn more about marketing, personal selling, small business development, marketing management and public relations.
  • Real Estate– The Real Estate Major allows students to apply the marketing skills learned to the real estate field by combining this instruction with specific real estate classes. Courses in this program include principles and practices of real Estate, real estate Law and Real Estate Finance.

Office Administration Degree Programs

Terra offers two Office Administration concentrations:

  • Executive Office Administration– The executive office administration curriculum prepares individuals for positions in administrative support. It also helps to equip office professionals to respond to the demands of a dynamic computerized workplace. Students in this program will learn more about management, document formatting, office procedures and personal and professional development.
  • Medical Office Administration – Coursework in this medical office administration degree program includes anatomy and physiology, computer systems, document formatting, medical billing, medical coding, medical terminology and other career-relevant classes.
