Academy standards are set by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission. Areas covered include, but are not limited to: administration, legal, human relations, firearms, driving, investigation, traffic, patrol, civil disorders, unarmed self-defense, and first aid. After successful completions of both academy courses, the student is eligible to take the state examination for police officers. Admission for the academy requires a felony-clear background check, fingerprinting, and photograph by the Academy Commander. LAC2031 and LAC2041 must be taken consecutively: LAC2031 cannot be taken in conjunction with LAC2042. LAC2031 is offered only in the Spring Semester.
