Distance Learning and eDegree FAQs

What is the cost of an online course?

Effective Fall 2014, the cost per credit hour is $148.09. To determine the complete cost of the course, multiply this rate by the number of credit hours. For many Terra State courses, this is $447.27. This does not include any course specific lab fees or textbook costs associated with taking an online class.

Can anyone sign up for an online course at Terra?

Yes! But you must first complete and pass the Distance Learning readiness assessment and a short Learning Management System orientation assessment. These assessments are delivered in Terra State’s online orientation. You will find more information in your acceptance packet.

How do I apply?

Begin the process by completing the online application. The application is free and should only take a few minutes.

Are there set times for online course?

There is no set time for you to work in your online course. You will have deadlines but how you structure your study time is up to you!

How much time will I need to dedicate to an online course?

While study time for each course varies, students should expect to spend 1 to 2 hours per credit hour per week. That means, in a course that is 3 credit hours, expect to work 3-6 hours per week.

Where can I go if I need help registering for a course?

New students will receive help registering for a course by their admissions advisor. If you need additional help, contact the Office of Admissions at 419.559.2349 or admissions@terra.edu. Continuing students should contact the Student Records & Registration Office at 419.559.2405 or recordsdept@terra.edu.

Where is my email?

You can find your email, student portal, a link to Canvas Learning Management System and a personal cloud drive in Terra State’s single sign on. After you have your ID and accounts set up you can log on at my.terra.edu.

Am I required to come to campus?

You are NOT required to come to campus if you are seeking a fully online degree or just wish to take online courses. You have access to ALL services that an on-campus student has. You may find you need to take a proctored exam at some point. If this occurs, contact the academic service center for more information.
