Federal Work Study

If you have financial need then you may indicate on your FAFSA that you are interested in the Federal Work Study (FWS) program.  FWS may be included in your financial aid awards if you are eligible. If you accept your FWS, then you will need to be employed in a FWS position. Your wages will be paid through FWS.

Examples of Student Employment Jobs

  • Admissions- student ambassador, customer service and clerical support
  • Arts and Sciences- clerical support
  • Business and Public Services- clerical support
  • Computer Services- customer service and technical support
  • Engineering and Industrial Technologies- clerical support
  • Financial Aid- customer service and clerical support
  • Instructional and technical laboratory support
  • Job Store- customer service (off-campus)
  • Kern Center- clerical support
  • Library services support
  • Math tutors at local elementary schools (off-campus)
  • Peer tutors
  • Reading tutors at local elementary schools (off-campus)
  • Student Activity Center- customer service
  • Student Records Office- customer service and clerical support

All student employment positions are posted on the CAREER SERVICES JOB BOARD located on My.terra.edu website. Positions that are Federal Work Study will have (FWS) listed in the job title in the posting.  Student Employment Wages are generally minimum wage.

How to Apply for a Federal Work Study Position

To apply for Federal Work Study, indicate on the FAFSA your interest.  The Terra State Office of Student Financial Aid will review your Federal Work Study request.   If you are eligible to receive Federal Work Study, you need to apply for student employment by completing a student employment application.  Submit the application along with your resume and reference list to the Career Services Office in B104. All student employment position postings are located on the CAREER SERVICES JOB BOARD
