Terra Community College – Scholarships

If you are looking for additional sources of financial aid, you might want to consider applying for scholarships. Some of the scholarships are based on academic merit, while others are based on financial need.

Terra State Community College Foundation Scholarships

The Terra State Community College Foundation raises and administers funds to support student scholarships.  Hundreds of donors support these funds each year through donations to endowment funds, annual scholarship funds, and memorial funds.  Scholarships are awarded from 100 different funds for each academic year and range in amounts from $500 to $1,000. To apply, Terra State students can complete a scholarship application on the Terra Student Portal.

To apply for the scholarships listed below, Terra State students can complete a scholarship application on the Terra Student Portal.  

Great Start Merit Scholarship

20 awards  $1500 each

New students and high school graduates who achieved at least a 3.0 grade point average in their high school junior and senior years and plan to attend Terra State Community College full-time may apply for this scholarship.

Academic achievement is the primary selection factor. Other factors considered are:

  • Being a first generation college student,
  • Preparation for college level work as evidenced by ACT or COMPASS test scores and college prep or college courses completed,
  • Completion of a Career Center or Tech Prep program, or
  • Participation in the Post Secondary Enrollment Options at Terra State Community College.

Jump Start Need Scholarship

20 awards          $1000 each

New students who graduate through the Gateway program or new students who have been away from school for at least 3 years may apply. Full-time or part-time enrollment plans will be considered. Unmet financial need is the primary selection factor.

Second Chance Need Scholarships

10 awards                        $500 each

Returning students who have been away from the College for at least three years after an unsuccessful enrollment experience, and aren’t academically eligible for federal student aid may apply. Unmet financial need is the primary selection factor. Full-time or part-time enrollment plans will be considered. Awards are on a first come, first served basis.

Scholarships for Registered Nursing

Sandusky or Wyandot county residents admitted to the clinical portion of the Registered Nurse program at Terra State Community College may apply for $1000 scholarships. There may be up to 18 scholarship awards made depending on the annual earnings of the trust. The awards are made for one school year. Recipients of scholarships may apply once for renewal. Renewal applicants will compete with all other applicants for awards in the subsequent year.

Scholarships for State Tested Nursing Assistant Training

Sandusky or Wyandot county residents pursuing the State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) training may apply for $250 scholarships toward the cost of the class. There may be up to eight scholarship awards per school year. These are one-time scholarship awards with no renewal.

AES Engineers Scholarship

These scholarships are intended for future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.

Nate Brahier 797 Foundation

This scholarship is available for students pursuing a career in Engineering or Power Technologies.

John H. and Carol Luscombe Scholarship

This scholarship through the Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is designed for students who meet one or more of the following critieria: non-traditional student, exhibit financial need, or have dependent children.
