Terra Community College is approved by the State of Ohio Division of Pressure Piping to provide procedure and welder qualification testing. All of the major codes are supported including American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Welding Society (AWS), and the American Petroleum Institute (API).
Brazing Qualification and Certification Testing
The Kern Center for Community and Industrial Development offers brazing qualification and certification testing for HVAC contractors, individuals, and/or HVAC students in accordance with the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX.
Welding Qualification and Certification Testing
In addition to brazing qualification and certification testing, the Kern Center offers welding qualification and certification testing for companies, contractors, individuals and/or welding students in accordance with the codes or the standard listed below:
- ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX, for fired & non-fired pressure vessels, and welding at nuclear power plants.
- AWS D1.1, Structural Welding Code – Steel, for building construction, tubular structures and miscellaneous steel fabrication for fabrication shops, manufacturing plants, small business owners, individuals, &/or Welding students. As well as certifications under the AWS D1.3, Structural Welding Code – Sheet Steel; the AWS D1.5, Bridge Welding Code for ODOT; and, the D1.2, Structural Welding Code – Aluminum.
- API Standard 1104, for the Welding of Pipelines & Related Facilities (like the Alaskan Pipeline, etc.); oil refineries (like BP, Sun Oil, etc.), and gas companies (like Columbia, East Ohio, etc.).
Testing is available in the college labs as well as on the job site. In addition to the above services, certification in Brazing of Refrigerant Piping is available.
