ElderCollege at the Kern Center is a peer-led group that serves mature learners by broadening intellectual interests, physical activity and social interaction. Our mission is to create a climate that rekindles interest and stimulates the thrill of lifelong learning.
Since 1994, several thousand adults have attended classes or gone on educational outings with ElderCollege. Courses in art appreciation, computers, history, music, literature, science and more have captured interests and ignited discussions that often exceed the confines of classroom walls.
More than forty members serve on the ElderCollege Committee. These individuals help keep the program going. They serve three-year rotating terms one of the following committees:
- Public Relations
- Special Events
The committee members help to ensure that course offerings and outings reflect the interests of ElderCollege attendees. Some also serve as classroom representatives.
