Health Information Technology Degree and Certificate Programs

Each year graduates from the Health Information Technology program complete a survey to measure graduate satisfaction. To date the graduate satisfaction rate for the Health Information Technology program is 100%. The program outcomes that were evaluated include:

  • Current HIT Program provides students with the skills to perform as an HIM professional
  • Current HIT program enables and challenges students to think critically and solve problems
  • Current HIT program offers proper and correct quantities of professional practical experience that is valuable in reinforcing HIM skills

Health Information Technology Degree

Health information management is the profession that focuses on healthcare data and the management of healthcare information resources. The Health Information Technology (HIT) program combines the knowledge of and skills from the disciplines of medicine, information management, business applications and computer technology within the healthcare industry. The HIT program is appropriate for individuals interested in preparing themselves for employment in a wide variety of healthcare settings.

Medical Coding

The Medical Coding Certificate program prepares students with entry-level skills needed to code, classify, and index diagnoses and procedures for the purpose of reimbursement, standardization, retrieval, and statistical analysis. Principles in ICD-9-CM coding, CPT coding, and third-party reimbursement will be emphasized.
