Children and Library Computers

Children under age 6 are not permitted to use the Library’s computers. Children 6 and older may only use the library’s computers under direct parental supervision when computers are available. Preference will be given to Terra students wishing to use the computers for scholastic purposes, therefore, any child may be asked to log off depending on student demand. Additionally, children using the library’s computers must comply with Terra’s Acceptable Use Policy and parents are required to closely monitor their children to ensure that these policies are adhered to. Again, parents/guardians are responsible for any property damage or act of vandalism done by the child, and campus security will be promptly notified if any child is left unattended within the library.

(Note: The “Children and Library Computers Policy” does not apply to minors enrolled in Terra State Community College classes or college sponsored programs.)

Noise

Terra State Community College Library provides a place for students to study on their own or within a group, therefore it is not a strictly quiet area. Conversations are welcome as long as they do not disturb others working within the library. Large work tables are available for collaborative studying and quieter study carrels, desks, and chairs are available along the east wall behind the stacks for individuals seeking greater solitude.

Please consider those working around you when using the library. Silence or set to vibrate all ringtones on cell phones and turn down the volume on all other devices. The library staff asks that you use headphones when listening to music or watching videos with sound. Headphones may be borrowed from the library's Circulation Desk, though it is recommended that you supply your own.
