Success Stories
Grant Yeater - 1981 Terra Graduate Grant Yeater followed his father into the family business, but Yeater earned an Associate of Applied Science with a HVAC/R major in 1981 and began working with his father in the family business, Yeater Refrigeration. He did service work and installation until he merged with Vaughn Industries in 2002. Now Yeater is the service manager at the Carey, Ohio-based Vaughn Industries. His duties include: scheduling service technicians, providing project managers with refrigeration piping quotes, designing/building light commercial and residential HVAC systems, assisting in the installation of refrigeration piping on larger systems, and providing customers with service contracts for HVAC/R systems. “Terra teaches the proper methods to trouble shoot both the electrical and the refrigeration parts of a system,” Yeater said. “A person also needs to be taught the proper theory of refrigeration to understand how all the components are to function and how they are to work together. Terra did this for me. Their shop provides excellent hands-on training.” And his advice for students who are starting their studies in HVAC/R? “Study and learn the refrigeration theory,” he said. “Develop the skills needed to be a knowledgeable, efficient service technician and/or installer. The customer will demand and expect it.” Yeater, who lives in Carey, has been married for 25 years and has three children.
