Celebrating 35 Years of Success at Terra

LOIS J. REX, 2001 Terra GraduateLois Rex might just be the ultimate multi-tasker. Returning to college after her children were born, this New Riegel native earned an Associate of Individualized Studies in Human Resources with high honors from Terra in 2001 while working full-time and raising five children. Along the way, she worked in Human Resources, but just before she graduated, Old Fort Banking Company hired her as the Human Resources Manager for its seven area offices.
Terra built my self-confidence, she said. Terra provides large opportunity in small classes. The flexible class schedules allowed me to work full time and complete my degree.
Now, more than three years after Terra, Rex loves her job at Old Fort Banking Company where she has been promoted to Assistant Vice President as the Human Resources Manager for currently nine offices.
She serves on the internal Communications Committee and has led the Employee Enhancement Committee. Rex says that computer classes at Terra aided her in promoting open communications within the organization through an HR web page for employees.
Through her work, Rex remains in contact with Terra as her employer promotes the college in a variety of ways. Recently, groups of Old Fort Banking Company employees attended tailor-made business classes through the Kern Center for Community and Industrial Development at Terra. The bank also provides an education reimbursement program to employees for college courses and full degrees. And for the past 10 years, the bank has offered a $1,250 scholarship to Terra for high school seniors from the 14 area school districts served by Old Fort Banking Company.
Rex is also very involved in civic, professional and community activities, including: Phi Theta Kappa, Sandusky County Safety Council (past president), Tiffin Junior Womens League (past president), Society of Human Resources Managers, Sandusky County Human Resources Managers Association, Seneca County Personnel Association and Seneca County Safety Council.
