Mike and Angie (Beier) Dziak

Mike and Angie (Beier) Dziak are quite literally poster children for Terra Community College.

Before the two graduated from Terra in 2000, they were part of a photo shoot on campus which resulted in their images becoming the face of Terra in the college catalog, on various display boards and on the Internet. As it turns out, Terra couldn’t have picked two better representatives.

Mike is now the owner of MD’s Discount Supplements and manager of the Clyde Health and Fitness Club. Angie is in her second year as a primary intervention resource teacher at Ellis Elementary School in Bellevue. The Dziaks, who celebrated their first anniversary in June, are pleased with the jumpstart they received at Terra.

“Terra gave me the confidence that I needed to interact with individuals, and gave me a genuine grasp on organization and staying educated in the field I chose,” Mike said.

Ditto for Angie, a two-year member of the Terra volleyball team.

“Terra provided me with classes that are very useful in my career,” she said. “I took psychology, early childhood, and speech classes that have helped me become a stronger teacher. Playing for the Terra Thunder gave me an opportunity to work with people towards a common goal, much like the workforce.”

After receiving an Associate of Arts in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Terra, Angie transferred to Heidelberg College and earned degrees in Elementary Education, Pre-K through 3, and Intervention Specialist, Mild to Moderate Needs. She’s using her background to provide intervention services aimed at keeping students successful in school.

Her husband has used his Terra education and a work-ethic learned from his business-owner parents to start and grow his own business.

“My parents not only showed me what hard work and dedication was all about, but they also showed me how customer satisfaction was the key to success,” Mike said. “A good reputation has to be obtained for a business owner to have success and pride in what they do. You need to feel that what you do is positively impacting society in some kind of way.”
