The Post-Secondary Enrollment Option is a family affair in the Price household, and that suits Mom and Dad just fine.

Older son, Brandon, is now a junior at Ohio Northern University even though he just graduated from Old Fort High School last spring.

“Going to Terra and participating in the PSEO allowed me to earn 93 credit hours by the time I graduated high school,” Brandon said. “All of my credit hours transferred to Ohio Northern. I have most of my general education credits completed, which allows me to start taking the classes that are needed for my majors.”

The younger Price, Alex, is only a sophomore at Old Fort. But he is following his brother’s footsteps.

“My older brother has told me many of the advantages that come from the PSEO choice,” Alex said. “His graduation with an associate’s degree as a high school senior has been exceptionally influential.”

That’s right. Not only did Brandon graduate from high school last spring, he picked up a degree from Terra at the same time.

“I knew that I would not be pursuing a career in mathematics, but going to Terra allowed me to further my interest in math by allowing me to take the courses necessary to complete my Associate of Science with a concentration in Mathematics,” said Price, who is majoring in psychology and communication arts with a concentration in theatre at ONU.

He plans to continue with law school after his undergraduate work is finished.

Alex has only taken two courses so far, but he has enjoyed both of them.

“It is great meeting students from all over the state of Ohio and other states, and also of all ages,” he said. “If you have the chance to be a part of  PSEO, I would not pass it up. I would recommend this to anyone interested in the challenges of a higher education because it is such a wonderful experience.”

Linda Price is happy, too.

“As parents of two post-secondary students, we feel with the rising cost of college education, this is an excellent opportunity for students and parents,” she said. “The ability to take classes at Terra during their high school years proves to be challenging which has helped in giving my sons a well-rounded education and prepared them for going on to a four-year college.”

Brandon agrees.

“I found the environment at Terra a great place to further my education and challenge my abilities,” he said. “The teaching staff is wonderful and understanding to the challenges that face high school students. I was still able to participate in high school activities. Professor (Michelle) Younker was always understanding for activities such as quiz bowl and band.”
