Success Story- John and Margie Foster know first-hand that Terra Community College can be a great start toward a four-year degree. John is a professor in graphics at Terra and his wife is the graphics design specialist there. But it took a trip to Columbus with their daughter and an appointment with an advisor at The Ohio State University to confirm that the transferability of credits really is as easy as the literature says it is. Cara Foster graduated this spring from Ross High School. As a Tech Prep and Post-Secondary Education Options student, she accumulated 32 hours of college credit at Terra. When she and her parents went to an orientation at OSU earlier this summer, they were relieved to hear that all of her credits transferred. “I knew they would be accepted because I know other Tech Prep people who have gone to Ohio State and their credits transferred,” Cara said. “But it’s nice to actually hear from an advisor that they are going to accept my Terra classes.” This summer Cara began her studies as a pre-allied health major at OSU. She plans to pursue a career in radiology. Her advisor told her that she could possibly graduate early. “I’m really glad I did Tech Prep and PSEO,” Cara said. “I didn’t even have to take a placement test for my English or anything. And I should be able to graduate in three years. I’m really happy about that, and my parents are, too.”
