WELDING
Welding Major Current Program and Course Description Information: The Welding Technology Program offers instruction in a wide range of topics, from basic oxyacetylene processes to advanced courses in pipe welding and welding inspection. The faculty has identified the following Learning Outcomes for all graduates: • Be able to prepare cost estimates for specific projects. • Utilize drawing and print skills and knowledge to depict projects in orthographic and/or isometric projection with proper detailing and dimensioning. • Correctly apply and/or interpret welding symbols on prints. • Demonstrate correct usage of print details, dimensions, specifications, and welding symbols in designing projects. • Select proper welding processes, equipment and accessories, and follow appropriate welding procedures required to manufacture or fabricate projects. • Demonstrate the ability to utilize the appropriate welding processes in accordance with the industrial codes, standards, and specifications that apply to specific jobs. • Be able to estimate project cost, compare it to the actual cost and make recommendations for improvement.
