Web Design Major Current Program and Course Description Information:
Today, the computer is the primary means of production. Information is the commodity in demand and tele-communication lines are highways through which information is transported. This major will prepare a student to enter the World of e-commerce including web site design, programming support, and management. Four foundational areas of study include design, technical training, communications and critical thinking. Students will be required to have a sophisticated level of computer skills which may be achieved by taking a minimum of ITS 109, completing the Microsoft Office User Specialist Program, or demonstrating computer usage proficiency. Students will learn all the skills necessary to participate in the exciting world of e-commerce, a fast growing field where job opportunities are virtually unlimited. The faculty has identified the following Learning Outcomes for all graduates: Demonstrate ability to create a simple website with links, graphics, tables. Demonstrate ability to create a website with scripting components. Demonstrate ability to create a website with CGI scripts. Demonstrate ability to create a dynamic website with access to an online database-having add, delete and change capabilities to all records. Demonstrate ability to create and edit graphics both n photographic and drawn formats. Demonstrate ability to create interactive content pieces using leading authoring software.
