EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Current Program and Course Description Information: 

With tighter legislative controls over child care centers and their employees, new laws have dramatically affected the quality of service and the required qualifications of those in Early Childhood Education. Public school systems and Head Start are providing early childhood settings. Head Start teachersare required to have a Pre-Kindergarten Associate teaching license.

Terras Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education is a fully-approved program for the State of Ohio Department of Educations teaching licensure as a Pre-Kindergarten Associate. Specialized admission requirements and performance objectives are detailed by law.

The faculty has identified the following Learning Outcomes for all graduates:

Develop skills in operational procedures based on NAEYC
  guidelines useful in a
variety of early childhood settings.

Possess a theoretical knowledge of stages of human
 
growth and development and developmental domains with
  an emphasis
on 0 to 8 years of age.

Develop sociological knowledge and skills to work with
  children and families
of diverse economic, cultural, social
 
makeup and those dealing with a variety of exceptionalities.

Demonstrate skills in program planning, evaluation, 
  
guidance of children, individually and in groups, preparing
  the
environment and working in collaboration with others.

Provide proof of Department of Human Services and Ohio
  Department of
 Education guidelines for working with children
  in the state of Ohio.
