COMPUTER SYSTEMS
Systems & Networking Support Major Current Program and Course Description Information: Program of Study The Systems & Networking Support program is designed for students who are analytical, enjoy problem-solving, troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues. Connectivity is mandated by todays technology. In addition to telecommunications, networking and operating systems, students in the program are introduced to CAD, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), web design, electrical concepts and media types including fiber optics and radio frequency. Graduates of the program will gain experience in the following: technical skills in connectivity systems management; including LAN and WAN concepts, problem-solving using structured logic and mathematics skills; written and verbal communications skills. The faculty has identified the following Learning Outcomes for all graduates: Identify, compare, and use basic data communication terms, basic tools of data communications, and elements necessary for connectivity between networks and computer systems. Effectively configure and troubleshoot computer/networking hardware and software. Configure, implement, and troubleshoot a network. Navigate and/or configure multiple operating system platforms.
