College Catalog* Program of Study The Chemical Dependency program prepares students for employment in many different entry-level positions. Students seeking a career in social work should recognize that personal qualities such as warmth, honesty, openness, hopefulness, concern, and sensitivity are essential. The student practicum of the curriculum provides students supervised learning experiences in various social service agencies. The classroom and hands on practicum provide student the opportunity to learn how to work more effectively with the medical, legal, and social service systems established to meet the with chemical dependency. The program provides students with a knowledge base to be used in counseling, corrections, administrative, and prevention settings. The faculty has identified the following Learning Outcomes for all graduates: • Adhere to the professional code of ethics of the National Association of Social Workers in working with clients. • Perform a case assessment interview according to the code of ethics for the National Association of Social Workers. • Demonstrate an understanding of the social work field through the experience of the social work practicum. • Exhibit a professional manner by displaying the following traits: propriety, competence, and professional tone. • Exhibit an awareness of primary service obligations of the social work profession.
