Joan Eckermann

Lyric Soprano

 

 

Ms. Eckermann holds a Bachelor of Music degree in music education and a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from Bowling Green State University.  She is an Adjunct Voice Instructor in Terra State Community College’s Department of Music and Music Academy and has maintained a private voice studio for 14 years.  She was a Resident Artist with Toledo Opera from 1988 to 1992, a member of the Toledo Opera Chorus from 1985 to 2004, and served as the company’s Director of Education & Outreach from 1989 to 2004. 

Ms. Eckermann served as Adult Choir Director at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge, Ohio from 1985 to 2001 and is currently the Children’s Choir Director at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elmore.  She has performed as a soloist with the Perrysburg Symphony, Bowling Green State University Philharmonia, and the Art Fair Song Festival in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Her opera and musical theater credits include roles with the Toledo Opera, Toledo Repertoire Theatre, and the Village Players.  She is employed at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont as Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator.
