Financial Literacy 101

New students who are more money-savvy will be more successful in affording their college education.  The inability of students to afford college costs is a common reason for students not to continue at Terra Community College.  According to the Jump Start Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, only 10 percent of current high school graduates received any kind of instruction in personal finance. In contrast, 95 percent of all college students have credit cards according to Business Week magazine.  Student loan indebtedness continues to increase for students at Terra Community College.  The Financial Literacy 101 module will introduce students to the basics of personal finance.

NOTE: The Financial Literacy 101 module is part of the Colleges Student Loan Default Management Plan.

Learning Objectives:

Students will learn:

  • Ideas for managing costs as a college student;
