Succeeding at Distance Learning
This module will help you gain a greater understanding of commonly-used computer terms; develop stronger technology skills by engaging in activities that simulate distance learning course activities; and understand the importance of communication.
Learning Objectives:
- Review technology terms related to using the computer, Internet and online communication
- Identify hardware and software needs
- Practice executing basic commands needed to complete many class assignments
- Review tools and techniques to improve Internet research
- Identify different types of online communication
- Understand the components of an email window
- Use email tools more efficiently which include copying, forwarding and attaching a file
- Review how to use the Student Portal discussion forum
Required Resources:
- A computer
- Internet access
- Email account
- Rudimentary word processing software like WordPad
