SME Grant
Capstone Experience As part of a Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) grant, Terra State Community College offers its students the opportunity to participate in a unique Capstone Experience. The Capstone Experience involves close cooperation with local industrial partners. Under the supervision of the Capstone Director, students engage in a year long, actual manufacturing project. The experience involves a required sequence of courses, as well as concurrent enrollment in Capstone Seminars I, II and III. The seminars are one credit hour each, offered in Fall, Winter and Spring quarters respectively. Courses in this year long sequence apply directly to the manufacturing project submitted to the college by local industry, while the year long Seminar sequence coordinates the projects, the course applicability and student participation in the project.
