Dropping Classes from a Schedule
- If you want to drop a class or classes from your schedule before the beginning of the semester, then you must notify the Student Records Office either in person or in writing. Act promptly once you decide so that the seat in class becomes available for another student.
- If you want to drop a class or classes from your schedule after the beginning of the semester but before calendar day nine of the quarter, then you must notify the Student Records Office either in person or in writing.
- If you want to drop a class or classes from your schedule after calendar day nine of the semester but before the end of the 10th week, then you must complete a Schedule Change form. Use the drop section of the form.
- The Schedule Change form is available from the Student Records Office. A completed Schedule Change form must be submitted to the Student Records Office for the withdrawal to be official.
- If you stop attending a class or classes but don’t complete and submit a Schedule Change form, then you are still enrolled. This will lead to failing grades in the class or classes and ineligibility for tuition refunds.
- A class dropped in the first through eighth calendar day of the semester is eligible for a 100% tuition and lab fee refund. A class dropped in the ninth through 16th calendar day of the semester is eligible for a 75% tuition and lab fee refund. A class dropped in the 17th through the 24th calendar day of the semester is eligible for a 50% tuition and lab fee refund. Classes dropped after calendar day 24 are not eligible for refunds.
- If you want to drop a class or classes from your schedule after the 10th week of the semester, then you must complete a Schedule Change form and also meet with the instructor. The instructor must authorize the withdrawal by signing the Schedule Change form. The instructor has the prerogative not to approve your withdrawal from the class.
- The deadline to drop a class is the end of week 15 of the semester.
- Any classes that you officially withdraw from after calendar day eight are assigned a “W” grade for withdrawal on your academic transcript. The “W” grade is not calculated in your grade average.
