It is generally understood that the people of the past have created our present condition. A corollary to this could be that our past individual decisions and actions create the means to the life we presently have. Following this thought, we can determine that what we, as individuals and as a collective, do today creates our future. In 1982 John Naisbitt authored his famous best-selling book “Megatrends”, which forecasted what we now call our present age of information " 10 years before the explosion of the use of personal computers and Internet-based networks. Since 1982, there have been individuals and organizations that use the tools of future forecasting to identify and create the futures they envision. This class will introduce the concept behind “Futurism”, how it works, and identify key components making up this fascinating filed of investigation and action. Instructor: John Krochmalny
