What is Music?

The exciting field of music is focused on the recording and production of music. From recording and editing to basic performance, if you enjoy working with technology and are interested in music, this could be the career path for you.

Students in this program learn basic music history and theory along with basic performance skills. They also learn to produce and create music utilizing computer hardware, software, and other technology equipment. At Terra State, our Music students are creative, computer savvy, artistic, have a good sense of rhythm and pitch, can read music. Does this describe you?

Broadcast and Sound Engineering Technicians

Broadcast and sound engineering technicians set up, operate, and maintain the electrical equipment for radio programs, television broadcasts, concerts, sound recordings, and movies.

The median annual wage for broadcast and sound engineering technicians was $42,650 in May 2017.

Overall employment of broadcast and sound engineering technicians is projected to grow 8 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Growth is expected to stem from businesses, schools, and entertainment industries seeking to improve their audio and video capabilities. They will need technicians to set up, operate, and maintain new technologically advanced equipment.
