There are two ways to access the Ebsco Databases. The first is to go to Terra’s Library web page and double click on EBSCO DATA BASES.
This will take you to a second screen.
Next choose a database that interests you. You will notice that there are two links available. If you are on campus please use the on campus link. If you are accessing the database from home or work please use the off campus link then follow the directions.
The second way is by accessing the database through the OhioLINK database listings Located at www.ohiolink.edu . Read down the left column till you find OhioLINK Databases listed by Names. Search alphabetically till you find Ebsco databases or the name of the specific database provided by Ebsco services.

In order to access this database off-campus, you would click on the Off-Campus access link for this database and then follow the directions. You can also access Academic Search Premier from the OhioLINK Web Page select OhioLINK Databases by name. Click on the "A" and then search for and click on Academic Search Premier (EBSCO Host).
-
The search page for this database has a Find box in which words can be combined with AND, OR, or NOT. The search is set to Default Fields, which searches the author, title, subjects and abstract of each record.
Search #1: Elections in Peru
-
Click in the Find box and type Peru* (The asterisk is a truncation symbol that will search for Peru, Peruvian, Peru’s or any other word beginning with the stem Peru). Then type and election*. Click on the Search button and the database should retrieve at least 420 records.
-
Click on the title for the record Notice that this article has the full text attached to the article citation. Double click on the link and your research is finished. Because this article is a PDF file, you will need an Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer in order to read it. If you don't have the Adobe Acrobat Reader you can download it for free from .
-
Close the window that holds the full text of the article to return to the database entry for this article. Click on the Result List link to return to the list of articles. Scroll down to the record . Click on the HTML Full Text link to see the full text as an HTML page. Click New Search return to the search menu and to clear your previous search.
Search #2: Pet Therapy.
-
In the Find box, type pet therapy and click on Search. You should retrieve at least 35 records. Click on the title for the record Puppy Love. Look at the list of subjects that were assigned to this article. Click on the subject, PETS--Therapeutic Use. This time you should retrieve at least 70 records. All of these articles were assigned the subject PETS--Therapeutic Use while the records retrieved in the first search simply included the phrase and may, or may not, be about pet therapy.
-
Here’s one last trick when doing research. If you do not have time to hunt out articles look closely for the second option under the Find box. If you check this box your search will ONLY produce full text articles.
