Academic ProbationEach student’s record is reviewed at the close of Fall and Spring quarters. A student maintains satisfactory academic progress if, after attempting 15 credit hours or more, the cumulative grade point average (GPA) meets the following minimum standards: Total Hours Minimum Cumulative Attempted Grade Point Average 15 1.5 16 – 30 1.6 31 – 45 1.7 46 – 60 1.8 61 – 75 1.9 76 and up 2.0 If a student’s cumulative academic record does not meet the defined minimum standards, the student is placed on Academic Probation. Students are notified of probationary status in writing. Students have until the next review to raise their GPA. At the end of the first probationary period, the College determines either to lift the probationary status, to continue the student on probation, or to recommend academic dismissal. A student may be continued on probation if the quarterly grade point average is raised to a 2.0 or higher, but the cumulative point average remains below the satisfactory academic progress standards. |
