Career Fair Offers Introduction to Opportunities in Ohio’s 5G Broadband Construction Industry

Northwest Ohio’s growing 5G broadband industry means job opportunities. For area students and adults interested in joining the field, an upcoming 5G Broadband and Utility Construction Career Fair offers a hands-on look at the types of work, career paths, and training programs available.
Presented by Terra State Community College and the University of Findlay, with support from the Ohio Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, a 5G Broadband and Utility Construction Career Fair will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Kenneth G. Myers Construction Co. in Green Springs, Ohio, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Visitors to the career fair will have an opportunity to check out hands-on demonstrations, a range of heavy equipment, VR simulators, and community college training programs and funding options from state and federal resources. Area high school students, recent graduates, and adults seeking new career opportunities in the telecommunications trades should attend.

Utility Construction Installer Training at Terra State Community College
The Construction Technology program at Terra State Community offers a two-semester Utility Construction Installer certificate program that prepares students to enter a growing field of specialized career opportunities and in-demand jobs in 5G broadband construction. Average pay for jobs in utility installation and 5G broadband construction is in the range of $48,000 – $70,000 annually.
Terra State’s Utility Construction Installer program introduces students to: basic blueprint reading, facility utility locating, construction techniques, outside plant cabling practices, and work zone safety with OSHA 10 training. Additionally, students in the program will have the ability to obtain a CDL Class A license.
Terra State Community College’s next semester of Utility Construction Installer spring classes will begin March 18, 2024.
