April 15, 2017 (Fremont, OH) – Terra State Community College has
announced that Melinda Huntley, Executive Director of the Ohio Travel
Association, will serve as the keynote speaker at the 48th
commencement ceremony on May 5, 2017.
Ms. Huntley is passionate about the
economic and cultural benefits of travel.
Having worked in travel-related jobs along Lake Erie for more than 23
years, she has witnessed firsthand how communities transform themselves when
they promote and improve their unique visitor experiences. She became the director of the Ohio Travel
Association in 2012 representing the interests of the industry at the local,
state and federal levels.
Ms. Huntley started her travel
career in public relations at Cedar Point, then led the Lake Erie Shores and
Islands/Ottawa County Visitors Bureau and tackled sustainable tourism
opportunities as Tourism Director for the Ohio State University’s Ohio Sea
Grant College Program. She is the
recipient of the Paul Sherlock Award, the highest honor bestowed to an Ohio tourism
professional, and has received recognition from Hospitality and Sales Marketing
International, American Library Association, the National Association of
Environmental Professionals, Firelands Audubon and others. She holds a master’s degree in public policy
and administration from the Ohio State University John Glenn School of Public
Terra State Community College is a two-year
