Life Scholars Mission
Life Scholars at Terra State is a peer-led group serving mature learners by broadening intellectual interests, physical activity and social interaction. Our Mission is to create a climate that fosters interest and stimulates the thrill of lifelong learning.
More Than Just Classes
There are many opportunities to get more involved! From leadership opportunities (committees) to teaching your own class, Life Scholars is a great way to stay active and connected.
Committees
Executive Committee
The executive committee works with the Coordinator to oversee the spendable portion of the Cunningham ElderCollege Endowment Fund. The executive committee is also responsible for approving all standing committees’ activities, serve as a spokesperson for Life Scholars and foster good will of the community, evaluate recommendations for classes, potential instructors, and trips, and participate in external events to promote the program.
Curriculum Committee
The curriculum committee develops list of potential classes each term and assists in recruitment of instructors to focus on developing a well-balanced slate of courses each term.
Travel Committee
The travel committee develops list of potential trips each term and assists in the planning of each trip, as well as, coordinate with curriculum committee when possible to plan trips that pair with class offerings each term.
Publicity and Special Events Committee
The publicity and special events committee is responsible to assist in all aspects of public relations and coordination of special events including samplers and community marketing opportunities. They also assist with social media activities.
About Committee Meetings
