Sixth Annual Cookin' Men set for Feb. 29

Cookin' Men
 Tickets can be purchased here.

The collaboration between ProMedica Memorial Hospital and the Terra College Foundation returns to host its 6th annual Cookin’ Men fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m February 29 at the Neeley Center on the Terra State Community College campus.

Proceeds from this year’s event will support student safety initiatives in both organizations. Terra State Community College plans on making improvements to enhance campus security and ProMedica Memorial Hospital will be using funds raised to purchase “Stop the Bleed” kits for area local schools. Kits ensure schools are prepared to respond in an emergency situation.

During the event, local community leaders will be the chefs serving up side, main course and dessert dishes and all attendees will have the opportunity to taste the dishes and vote for their favorites. The chefs this year are:

  • Rob Boukissen: Wendt Key Realty
  • Tom Bowlus: Bowlus Law Firm
  • Jon Detwiler: Fremont City Schools
  • Gerry Gonya: Harvey Oaks Jewelers
  • Otto Gonzales: Crown Battery
  • John Havens and Ed Ollom: Color Haven Paints
  • Miguel Layton: El Rachero II
  • Corey Leber: ProMedica Memorial Hospital
  • Scott Miller: Sandusky County Commissioner
  • Steve Polter: Polter Berry Farm
  • Dale and Matthew Reiter: Vanguard Sentinel Career Center
  • Tim Schratt: HMS Host
  • Ralph Smothers: Ralph's Joy of Living
  • Bill Taylor: Terra State Community College
  • Ty Tracy: Fremont Chiropractic Clinic
  • Dr. James Williams: ProMedica Physicians Group
  • Brad Woleslagel and Collin Wolf: First Solar and Green Bay Packing

In addition to enjoying delicious food, attendees will also have the chance to participate in a silent and live auction.

ProMedica Board Co-Chair for this event Robin Richter is looking forward to a great fundraiser. "The Cookin' Men fundraiser is such a unique event for our community," she says. "Local men cooking from scratch, each with a different recipe, all in the same kitchen. Is that epic or what?"

Terra College Foundation Board Co-Chair Charles Eberhardt is also excited. "This is an opportunity for the community to meet those community leaders who enjoy cooking as a hobby while, at the same time, supporting the ProMedica Foundation and the Terra College Foundation," he says. "What a wonderful way to support these two important staples to Fremont and the surrounding area."
