13 Titans make NJCAA Academic All-American Team
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released the list of Academic All-Americans for the 2021-2022 school year, which includes 13 student-athletes from Terra State’s Titans athletics teams.
Sophia Ford (L/DS, volleyball, Petersburg, MI), Keke McNutt (S, volleyball, Temperance, MI) and Elizabeth Wells (OH, volleyball, Bascom, OH) all obtained 4.00 GPAs and were named NJCAA All-Academic First Team.
The Titans also saw five students named All-Academic Second Team: Brennen Emerine (IF/OF, baseball, Tiffin, OH), Josh Gase (Pitcher/First, baseball, Tiffin, OH), John Lotycz (baseball, Fremont, OH), Korey Robinson (Guard, men’s basketball, Cleveland, OH) and Malcolm Sims Jr. (Forward, Men’s Basketball, Bedford Heights, OH); and five more were named All-Academic Third Team: Olivia Howard (Point Guard, women’s basketball, Sandusky, OH), Jaden Ivy (OH/DS, volleyball, Galion, OH), Charles Knuckles (Forward, men’s basketball, Cleveland, OH), Alisa Nowaczyk (OH, volleyball, Holland, OH) and Abby Yost (L/DS, volleyball, Bellevue, OH).
Athletic Director Gregory Hedden said, "Our student-athletes, along with coaches, professors and various support staff, have done an outstanding job. It is with great pride that we can honor these young men and women. This is quite an accomplishment, and our Athletic Department, along with our Terra State Administration, would like to offer high fives to all involved. Go Titans in and out of the classroom!”
For student athletes to receive All-Academic honors, they must achieve a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.60 or higher. Then depending on the student’s GPA, they are divided among three teams. The NJCAA All-Academic First Team members achieved a 4.00 GPA. The members of the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team finished with a GPA between a 3.80 and 3.99. The NJCAA All-Academic Third Team members are students who received a GPA between a 3.60 and a 3.79.
