What is Health Information Technology?

The diverse and evolving field of Health Information Technology (HIT) combines medicine, management, finance, law, and information technology into one dynamic career path. If you enjoy working with data and technology, this could be the career path for you.

Students in this program learn to apply legal principles, policies, regulations, and standards in order to control the use of health information. They also gain practical skills to code, classify, and index diagnoses and procedures while working in databases. At Terra State, our HIT students are data driven, detail orientated, and organized. Does this describe you?

Graduates of a HIT program can find careers in a variety of settings including but not limited to physician's offices, hospitals, and some work from home. Learn more about this profession below or visit the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
