Terra State Community College student Kristy Wetzel has been named the College’s Fremont Rotary Student of the Month for February 2021.

Wetzel lives in Fremont with her husband, Kent; stepsons, Kaiden and Isaac; and a baby girl due in July.

She previously graduated from Terra State in December 2020 with an Associate of Applied Business in office administration with cum laude honors and is now working towards her second associate’s degree in business management.

“Helping others is very important to me and I can do that working at a desk and assisting others,” said Wetzel.

Aside from classes, Wetzel can be seen helping at the Admissions office front desk, where she answers phone calls and assists students who visit the office. She also teaches Sunday school with her husband at her local church.

“Through my schooling at Terra State, I have learned to believe in myself and work hard to do the best I can, even when the road gets tough and I am burned out,” said Wetzel.

At Terra State, Wetzel has been recognized on the Dean’s list. She chose Terra State because it was best to be close to home and she knew that earning a degree was important for her future.

Her nominator Clay O’Neal, admissions advisor, observes firsthand Wetzel’s commitment to helping students in the Admissions office.

“Kristy is more than deserving of this award for numerous reasons. Kristy comes into the office every single day with a positive attitude and treats both perspective and current students with kindness and respect. She is always willing to help no matter what the problem is. It’s a true pleasure to work with her,” said O’Neal.

This fall, Wetzel plans to enroll in Terra State and Tiffin University’s dual enrollment program for business management. She hopes to continue working in Terra State’s Admissions office.
