Keke McNutt named November Rotary Student of the Month
Terra State Community College student Keke McNutt has been named the College’s Fremont Rotary Student of the Month for November.
McNutt, from Temperance, Michigan, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bedford Senior High School in 2021. At Bedford, McNutt was awarded the Individual Academic All-State for the 2020 volleyball season and received the Southeastern Conference Sportsmanship Award her senior year.
Now at Terra State, she is taking classes toward an Associate of Science degree and is also a member of the Terra State Titans volleyball team.
“I chose Terra State Community College because they offer a program that allows me to receive a strong start in my career path. I also chose the College because I wanted a school that would provide a positive environment, to not only learn in, but as an athlete, also live and compete in,” said McNutt.
McNutt contributed to the sixth-place finish the Titans had this year at the NJCAA National Championships.
Outside of class and volleyball, she is an active member, volunteers and is a part of the young adults group at the BridgePoint church. She also helps coach volleyball programs and clinics for children.
Her nominator, Adjunct Professor of Economics Andre Duclos, credits McNutt for being an open-minded and generous student. “Keke was a part of Titans Volleyball. She had to deal with the fame of being on the team and making it to the NJCAA championships. She often talked about her work at the church with young people. She was open-minded, dealt with the fame and when the season finally ended, she thanked her classmates, her team and her church for their support. Her generosity with her time and the fact that she took some of the blame when the team lost in the championship tournament, was a class act worthy of being nominated,” said Duclos.
After graduating from Terra State, McNutt plans on transferring to a four-year institution to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. With that degree, she wants to pursue a career as a pharmacist and work at a pharmacy within a hospital.
