Terra State Community College student Brennen Emerine has been named the College’s Rotary Student of the Month for January.

Emerine lives in Fremont with his wife, Abigail, and two children, Malachi and Tori.

He previously graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 2016 with honors. Emerine is also a combat veteran of the United States Army, where he served for three years. Now at Terra State, he is taking classes to earn his Electricity – Power and Controls Degree (Associate of Applied Science) and is a second base player of the Terra State Titans Baseball team.

Emerine said he chose Terra State because “the College brought me back home to northwest Ohio. I have always been familiar with Terra State because my grandpa retired from here as the Head of the English Department. I wanted to go back to school after the Army and Terra State provided both a good education as well as the opportunity to play baseball.”

Outside of class and baseball, Emerine enjoys spending time with his wife and children.

His nominator, Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Gregg Hedden, credits Emerine for working hard and balancing everything well. “I believe Emerine is well-deserving of this award. Having served our Nation as an Army Veteran is one of the reasons I chose to nominate him. He also juggles family (being both a father and a husband), school and baseball in a very mature manner. I am extremely proud of his service and his integrity.”

After graduation in May of 2023, Emerine wants to pursue a career in the electrical field and work his way up towards a better position.
