Terra State Community College student Steven Richardson has been named the College’s Rotary Student of the Month for September.

He previously graduated from Huron High School in 2020. Now at Terra State, he is taking classes to earn his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Interactive Media.

“I chose Terra State because I was able to apply for the Job Corps Scholarship. Once I met people here, that sealed the deal and I chose to graduate at Terra State,” said Richardson.

Outside of class, Richardson is a part of the Esports and Dragons in Dungeons clubs. He is also the Assistant Manager for the Terra State Titans Men’s Basketball Team.

His nominator, Lucille Phillips, a career coach with the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP), credits Richardson for being determined and never giving up. “Steven has grown tremendously over the past couple of years and has dedicated himself to becoming successful. He is utilizing his time management skills, which allows him to study, complete assignments and learn good work ethics. Attending Terra State has allowed him to mature and take his responsibilities much more seriously. He plans to continue his education upon graduation,” said Phillips.

After graduation, Richardson wants to transfer to continue his education at a four-year institution. His ultimate career goal is to become a video game designer and work for Nintendo.
